Απελευθέρωση της Μακεδονiας

Conference “Greece and the Balkan Wars: 100 years from
the liberation of Macedonia and Epiros”

On October 26, 1912, the Greek Army entered Salonica, sealing the liberation of a large part of Macedonia and Epiros from the Ottoman Empire. That was a catalytic event for the Balkan Wars and changed the course of European history.
The purpose of the conference that will be held on October 27, 2012 at the UM-St. Louis is to both commemorate and promote understanding of that historical event. Distinguished historians from the US, Canada, and Greece will gather to talk about important issues of the Balkan Wars, such as the role that the army and the navy played in the wars, violence and ethnic cleansing, war and propaganda, and the Greeks from the diaspora who returned to fight in the wars. The conference will be webcasted live through our website.

*NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED*
